Montesano Extremadura is the result of family tradition. It was established in 1998 in Jerez de los Caballeros, in the south of the province of Badajoz, in the area known as The cradle of Iberian ham. The initial aim was to produce Iberian pork products right there, where the conditions were most suitable, that is, in the heart of the Extremaduran pastures; a unique ecosystem where most of the Iberian pigs are fed naturally. That is why we have created the necessary facilities so that the complete cycle of breeding, fattening, slaughtering and processing of the pieces is confined to such an emblematic natural area. To this end, great human and financial efforts were made to expand our facilities to reach a drying capacity of 400,000 pieces hung simultaneously in optimal conditions to keep the harmony with the environment that defines us.
The location of our company in the middle of the pasture, guarantees the optimal breeding of the animals; also, as if this were not enough, the environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, altitude) are perfect for the drying and curing of Iberian cold cuts, and we must also add the knowledge inherited from the family tradition, as well as the dedication and experience in each of the processes we carry out.
We have 850 hectares of pasture land, 1,500 purebred Iberian breed mothers and 22,000 piglets per year. Thanks to this, we can look at the future with optimism to offer you a product with all the sanitary guarantees and all the Iberian flavour.

Montesano is one of the companies most committed today to ensuring that the magical land of Extremadura, where most of the Iberian pigs are bred, also becomes a benchmark for the Iberian pig.
Montesano Extremadura currently exports its products to more than 40 countries: China, Japan, Brazil, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Mexico, Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea… Some of the most demanding markets in sanitary matters.
