The Extremaduran pastures

An enclosed grazing area where holm oaks and cork oaks grow, producing acorns, which are highly sought after by the pigs and give the Iberian acorn-fed ham its indescribable and wonderful flavour.

Montesano is established in Extremadura as it is considered to be the right geographical location for obtaining the best raw material and it has excellent weather conditions for production, since the pasture area where the acorn-fed Iberian pigs graze in Extremadura accounts for 45% of the national surface area and represents almost 60% of the production of acorn-fed Iberian pigs. Moreover, due to the richness of its pastures, the region of Jerez de los Caballeros is known as the cradle of the Iberian pig.

The perfect environment

Approximately 400 pigs enjoy pure nature and huge open spaces full of pastures on an 850-hectare farm located in Jeréz de los Caballeros, Badajoz.

The work of a lifetime

A family tradition that has been passed on for generations. An inherited passion, the passion for the countryside, for the pasture, where the Iberian pig, the king of the pasture, is top priority.
